About Us
The idea behind The Making Room was inspired by a shared love of all things creative and a strong belief in the importance of arts education in all its form. Our mission is to deliver fun, creative and affordable workshops within a friendly and supportive environment. Between us we have over 25 years experience of teaching within a host of different educational settings.
Our Story
After many years of working together delivering arts and crafts qualifications in FE we decided it was time to take our experience and apply it to new and exciting educational settings. Our wide set of creative skills has allowed us to develop a portfolio of exciting workshops which can be delivered in any suitable space or online. At the heart of The Making Room is our belief in the restorative and mindful qualities of creativity and the benefits that this can offer. We hope our workshops provide the perfect supportive environment to explore your own creativity, discover new skills or rediscover old ones.

About Me
Sheila May
I have studied both 2D and 3D and have a degree in printed textiles and surface decoration along with a teaching qualification. I have a love of all things coloured, patterned and textured. I enjoy making work from a variety of techniques and processes and love to experiment!
During a long working life as an interior designer and educator, I've also produced my own textiles and cards as Mazie May as well as delivering workshops for The Making Room.
About Me
About Me
With qualifications in visual art, photography and education I have always found it hard to pin my love for all things creative to just one discipline. Printmaking, drawing, collage, textiles, I love creativity in every shape and form which has led to a very mixed media approach to my own practice.
Working both freelance and as part of The Making Room I have been lucky enough to produce workshops for organisations as diverse as The Crafts Council, The British Library, Sevenoaks District Council and The National Army Museum.
